The Short Course in Mindful Self-Compassion (SC-MSC) is a 6-session adaptation of the empirically-supported 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program developed by Kristin Neff, PhD, the pioneering researcher in the field of self compassion and Christopher Germer, PhD, a leader in the integration of mindfulness, compassion and psychotherapy. “Self-Compassion promotes emotional resilience, reduces anxiety and depression, and helps individuals recover from stress and burnout by fostering a more balanced and supportive relationship with themselves.” (centerformsc.org)

Lisa Vratny-Smith, MSW has been practicing yoga, mindfulness, and meditation since 1994 and teaching a wide range of modalities since 2002. She completed her certification as a Trained Teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion in 2020 and has taught both the full and short MSC courses many times.
Additionally, Lisa is a Reiki Master Teacher, Certified Practitioner of High Touch® Jin Shin , and an Expert Level Sound Healing Practitioner. Lisa recently retired after thirty years serving as a School Social Worker and Sustainable Wellness Coach in Aurora Public Schools integrating her social work and healing practices to support the wellness of staff and students. Lisa is dedicated to facilitating the healing journeys of others by creating spaces and resources for them to find peace and healing.
