Winter solstice
The Winter Solstice is almost upon us and I am excited for the opportunity to honor it with you through our Saturday Morning Yoga class as well as the Winter Solstice Retreat for Rest & Renewal. There are only a few retreat spaces left, so sign up soon!
Autumn for me has been a time of reflection, connection, rest, and letting go. I have had the opportunity to listen to the rhythms of my body, mind, and spirit and follow their lead. I have consciously let go the of expectations I have held for myself over that past few decades with gratitude for what they have provided along with the doors that may open through letting them go.
Today a dear friend reminded me that when we feel stuck it is often because of the stories we tell ourselves that we don’t have any other choices, that we must endure. There is no shame or blame in these perspectives as they are the soup we have all marinated in throughout our lives in our families, our communities, and our cultures. However, we can be a light in the darkness for ourselves and others by remembering that even within difficult situations we have options. We can examine the words we speak to ourselves, question them, challenge them, and find new ways to honor who and where we are and how we got here. We can notice the beauty and wonder of the universe, remember that we are part of that beauty of wonder, and walk in the word knowing our own worth.
As the darkest, longest night of the year approaches, may we look into our own darkness and allow our inner light to shine brightly. May we give ourselves permission to release that which no longer serves us, creating space to grow, to become the next version of ourselves. May we allow inspiration to germinate through the winter, preparing for the coming spring and all the abundance that life has to offer. May we step into our own joy and revel in its wonder. ☀️
