Non-attachment

It is definitely beginning to feel like summer with the temperature rising and school getting out. I love summer so much that I can sometimes get so caught up in its brevity that I miss enjoying its wonders. This week I have been practicing non-attachment for many reasons and have found reminder lessons in the beauty nature offers. I have been watching the progress of our peonies as they move from tiny buds to bigger buds to full blooms and I was filled with excitement once the blooms burst forth and graced us with their joyful beauty. (Picture below) Yet, the full blooms only last for a day or two if we are lucky. It can be easy to fall into lamenting their short lived show, but it also offers a perfect opportunity to practice non-attachment by acknowledging and enjoying the beauty while its there without clinging to the desire for it to continue as it is in this moment.

When we talk about the practice of non-attachment it can sometimes feel like we can’t have feelings or aren’t engaged. Conversely, non-attachment provides us the opportunity to be fully engage, to be fully present in the moment without expectation, allowing it to unfold just as it is. Ram Dass says, “The most important aspect of love is not in giving or the receiving: it’s in the being.” The practice of non-attachment encourages us to to just be with what is right now.

This weekend we have the opportunity to practice non-attachment breath by breath in our Saturday Morning Yoga class via Zoom. Please join me to pause, listen to your body, and care for it with lovingkindness.

There are still a few spaces still available at the Mindfulness for Educators Retreat at Drala Mountain Center, June 17th-20th. Andra and I are really looking forward to the retreat and would love to have you join us as we explore the concepts of intuition and self-compassion through our mindfulness practices. Please share with any educators you know!!

We are one month away from our Summer Solstice Healing Circle. Please join me and my friend Michelle Colarelli on June 22 for a nurturing afternoon as we welcome the energy of the Summer Solstice with astrology, movement, Yoga Nidra, and Reiki infused sound healing. Space is limited so sign up soon!

Please explore upcoming opportunities below.

As always feel free to practice with previous recordings of Saturday Morning Classes as well as Evening Chair Yoga on my Youtube channel. You may also enjoy a growing variety of meditations I have available on the Insight Timer app that you can access for free. I’d appreciate your offering a rating on the meditations as well. Additionally, my friend Kate continues to offer live online classes Monday and Wednesday mornings from katekelly.yoga.

May you be safe, may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you live with ease. ♥️ ~ Lisa
