Wintering

This time change has left me more exhausted than I could have predicted. It has been a good opportunity to practice what I teach through “wintering,” giving myself plenty of extra rest and TLC. I hope you are listening to your bodies and offering them what they need as well. Please join me for Saturday Morning Yoga this weekend as we care for our bodies with lovingkindness.

Monday is a New Moon in Scorpio and brings lots of reflective energy supporting us in asking deeper philosophical questions of ourselves and our lives. There are several planets influencing this energy as well. You can read more about them and the New Moon from Forever Conscious. Monday is also World Kindness Day, so I encourage you to take the opportunity to offer intentional acts of kindness to others as well as yourself.

I had the pleasure of leading the first Session in our Short Course in Mindful Self-Compassion last Saturday. We explored noticing the voice of our inner critic and learning to offer ourselves compassion through soothing and supportive touch and a Self-Compassion Break. I will be offering the full MSC course this winter on Tuesdays beginning January 16. Save the dates (details below) and look for registration information coming after Thanksgiving.

We also had a wonderful VEN experience with Professor Sontina Barnes yesterday at our SEW Series session on Navigating Tough Conversations. We explored how the language we use influences our interactions, the importance of connection and curiosity in building bridges between people, and the foundational component of seeing each others humanity in the midst of disparate views. As we continue to watch wars rage across the world and tackle political challenges at home, these tools can support us in maintaining and building community.
